Viva Acid and A Party Called Tribe announce Dance Mania Legends Block Party, a free community event celebrating the sounds, DJs, and cultural legacy of Chicago’s Ghetto House movement. Taking place Sunday, 12th July at Indigo Mrkto in Chicago, the event brings together pioneering Dance Mania DJs and music fans for an afternoon dedicated to the city that gave these sounds to the world.
Hosted by DJ Slugo and DJ Monty, Dance Mania Legends Block Party celebrates more than 30 years of Chicago’s Ghetto House legacy and its influence on the global evolution of Juke, Footwork, and electronic music. The free, all-day gathering highlights the DJs and community that shaped one of the most influential movements in underground dance music history.
The event will feature a wide range of Chicago DJs representing multiple generations of the culture, including Cease Days, DJ Chip, DJ DMC, DJ Lemo, DJ Manny, DJ PJ, DJ Puncho, DJ Rampage, DJ Ro, DJ Solo, DJ Static, DJ Thadz, Jana Rush, M-Dok, Maddjazz, and Syko. Bringing together foundational figures and emerging talent, the event showcases the continued evolution of Chicago’s electronic music scene while honouring the legacy that built it.
Dance Mania Legends Block Party recognises the lasting impact of Black electronic music innovators whose creativity helped define Chicago’s underground sound and influenced artists and movements around the world. The gathering creates a space to celebrate the people behind the music while supporting continued efforts towards recognition, preservation, and equity within the electronic music community.
Presented by Viva Acid and A Party Called Tribe, the event transforms Indigo Mrkto into a meeting point for DJs, fans, and community members to experience the music and culture that have connected generations of Chicagoans. The free event provides an opportunity for the city to come together around a shared history and celebrate the continued influence of Dance Mania and Ghetto House.
The Dance Mania Legends Block Party will also celebrate the launch of the new Viva Acid website and merch shop, featuring exclusive event-only merchandise, Dance Mania Legends apparel, vinyl, stickers, and limited-edition items available throughout the day.
