Japanese Producer and Beat Maker, Chizawa Q Returns to R&S with New Album ‘Xenoverse’ and Debuts First Single ‘Beluga’

Chizawa Q makes his highly anticipated comeback on the iconic Belgian label R&S Records, announcing his forthcoming album ‘Xenoverse’ alongside the release of the lead single, ‘Beluga’ a collaboration with Masaki Sakamoto. Chizawa first appeared on R&S with his ‘Lost Asia’ EP in 2006, which saw a resurgence with a fresh remix in 2022. His return to the label with this new project reinforces R&S’s commitment to nurturing long-term relationships with boundary-pushing artists.

Known for its genre-defying catalogue, R&S continues its tradition of championing forward-thinking music that challenges the conventions of electronic music. Chizawa Q’s ‘Beluga’ and the upcoming ‘Xenoverse’ are no exception.

‘Beluga’ opens with a primal beat accompanied by a deep, atmospheric vocal that immediately sets a dark, evocative mood. As the track progresses, intricate hi-hats and a rolling melodic loop take over, pushing the energy forward. Jazzy stabs punctuate the groove, nodding to Chizawa’s eclectic influences.

Drawing inspiration from Detroit techno legends like Underground Resistance and Kenny Larkin, as well as European jazz-techno pioneers Steve Rachmad and Dave Angel, ‘Beluga’ bridges the old-school and the cutting edge.

This is not formulaic techno with predictable drops—it’s a fusion of contemporary jazz and electronic innovation. Chizawa Q is a fearless artist, exploring the depths of his craft, and his alignment with R&S’s ethos of prioritizing avant-garde talent over mainstream appeal makes for a perfect pairing.

The music video for ‘Beluga’ further enhances the track’s abstract vibe, featuring surreal, noir-inspired visuals that complement the song’s otherworldly tones.

As anticipation builds for ‘Xenoverse’, listeners can expect an exploration of a broad electronic palette. The album will feature collaborations with notable artists such as Masaki Sakamoto, Kowalewski, and Dan Sama, along with remixes by Makoto Shimizu.

With ‘Beluga’ as a glimpse into the album’s emotional depth, Chizawa Q is positioned at the forefront of Japan’s thriving electronic music scene, pushing boundaries and challenging expectations.
