After the success of Carthago, Angeke and Space Fair Hanna Haïs presented Sitting Bull, on 22nd November 2024 on Beatport and Spotify.

Hanna Haïs is one of these long-lasting icons as Laurent Garnier, Black Coffee, Louie Vega, Âme, Loco Dice, Chez Damier, Kerri Chandler, all of them play her music. From 6th December, Sitting Bull will be available on all major digital platforms.

Released under the Donkela label, this new single adds another chapter to her long-standing career in AfroTech and electronic music. Hanna Haïs has been a key figure in the house music scene, with a career spanning over 70 releases, including albums, singles, and remixes. Her first release, a remix by Larry Heard, paved the way for collaborations with top labels like Defected, MoBlack, and Distance. Nevertheless, it’s extraordinary to see that she has performed in several African countries throughout her career and how it became part of her musical journey.

Taking a closer look at Sitting Bull, it is composed, arranged, and produced by Hanna Haïs, was recorded in France and mixed and mastered in Greece by George Deligiannis. The track combines hip hop-inspired vocal samples with rhythmic AfroTech elements, including an arpeggiator layered over driving beats and a deep bassline.

The track’s creation started with the discovery of vocal samples with a distinct hip-hop vibe, described by Hanna Haïsas reminiscent of artists like Drake and Kanye West. These samples set the tone for the production, which came together quickly using Ableton Live and samples from Loopcloud. Hanna Haïs highlights the energy of the track’s post-break section as a standout moment.

“I found some vocal samples which were a bit different from what I usually use, these vocals had a hip-hop vibe, sort of Drake-like and started working”.

Since 2010, Hanna Haïs has blended Afro influences into her sound, beginning with the single Ka Donké. As a DJ and producer, she has performed at venues and festivals around the globe, with her music supported by industry heavyweights like Black Coffee, Caiirosa, Joseph Capriati, Loco Dice, Ghedion Behonegne, Jamiie, DJ Gregory, Louie Vega, Laurent Garnier and many others

Looking ahead, Hanna Hais will perform in Dubai in December 1st at the Arkadyan Voyage, and the artist has plenty lined up for 2025, including a collaboration with Dante.T and Mario Da Ragnio due in January, followed by a solo release in February. Additionally, she’s working on remixes, keeping her schedule packed with new music.
