Eight electronic music producers have had an unforgettable week in Ibiza thanks to the return of El Tony Producer Academy. Supported by Beatport, the Academy, now in its second year, sees eight lucky artists take part in a programme run by Swiss natural energy drink brand El Tony Mate to refine their production skills, connect with others and gain insight from electronic music experts.
Participants took part in a free programme between the 1st-7th October where eight winners were mentored by DJ/producers SKALA and Kid Simius. The Academy is part of El Tony Mate’s Culture Collective, designed to celebrate new talent and provide opportunities to those involved in electronic music. Its natural, freshly brewed mate drink can be used to bring natural energy to everyday life and creative projects.
Participants were given much more than a production workshop by working with each other at Metrica Studio to create new tracks and explore new perspectives. They also received insightful feedback from their mentors. They also got to experience the vibrant nightlife of Ibiza by heading to Hï Ibiza.
Ellen Fölmli, Culture Specialist at El Tony Mate says: ‘with the Producer Academy, we want to create opportunities for producers to learn, connect and grow beyond their usual home studio setup. Bringing them together with experienced coaches and other talents creates a completely different energy. Seeing how creative everyone became throughout the week and how inspired they left showed us exactly why we want to create spaces like this.’
The eight participants grew from strangers to a connected creative network. They gained new friends, connections, inspiration and a greater understanding of the Ibiza electronic music scene. El Tony Culture is always looking to provide opportunities to artists with projects such as their Producer Academies and Selected Sessions.
Mentors
SKALA is a DJ, producer and vocalist from Berlin who has featured in the Beatport Top 50 Charts (Melodic Techno/Electronica) and performed at events and venues around the world, including Off Sonar, Klein Phoenix (Istanbul), and Electric Brixton (London). She has toured India, Central America, Europe and the Middle East.
Kid Simius is a DJ, producer and live performer from Spain. He is the Head of Jirafa Records and has amassed over 36 million streams on Spotify. He has performed at Sónar, Tomorrowland, Fusion and Blitz. Last year he played over 30 festivals around the world.
