For ANAYA, July marked the convergence of touring and new music. On 17th July, the Colombian DJ, producer, vocalist and violinist released ‘Deja’, a collaboration with Los Angeles-based producer Brian Matrix. Nine days later, she made her Tomorrowland Belgium debut, following a series of performances connected to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States.

Released through S2 Records, part of the Sirup Music network, ‘Deja’ reflects the scale of the environments ANAYA has been navigating this summer. Built around a rolling bassline, punchy drums, layered percussion, atmospheric synths and recurring vocal elements, the track sits between tech house and bass house while adopting the tension-and-release structure associated with peak-time festival sets. Beatport lists the extended version at 128 BPM, while Traxsource categorises the release as tech house.
The timing places the release within a particularly active period for ANAYA. Before arriving in Belgium, she performed across official FIFA World Cup events in the United States, including appearances connected to SoFi Stadium in California and Hard Rock Stadium in Florida. She then made her Tomorrowland debut on 26th July at the Planaxis stage, bringing the hybrid format that combines DJing, vocals and electric violin into another international setting.
That sequence also provides context for ‘Deja’. Rather than approaching the record purely as a club track, ANAYA and Matrix developed it with larger stages in mind, focusing on direct rhythmic movement and an arrangement capable of creating and releasing tension without overloading the production.
“‘Deja’ is a peak-time dance record that blends modern tech house grooves with festival-sized energy,” ANAYA and Matrix explain. “It balances hypnotic vocals, driving percussion and powerful drops to create a record that’s equally effective in clubs, festivals and high-energy DJ sets.”
The title comes from the psychological sensation of déjà vu: encountering a new situation while simultaneously feeling that it has happened before. According to the artists, that contradiction became the conceptual basis for the production, translated through repeated vocal elements and an evolving rhythmic structure.
“The inspiration came from wanting to capture the feeling of being caught in a moment that feels strangely familiar, like experiencing something for the first time while simultaneously feeling as though you’ve lived it before,” they say. “That idea of déjà vu became the emotional foundation of the record.”
Brian Matrix brings a club-focused production background to the collaboration. Based in Los Angeles, his recent catalogue has moved across house, tech house, Afro house and Latin-influenced electronic music. ‘Deja’ places that production approach alongside ANAYA’s increasingly hybrid artistic identity, where songwriting and electronic production coexist with her background as a classically trained violinist and her live performance work.
The partnership with S2 Records also gives the single an established European dance-music platform. The label’s catalogue spans house, tech house, bass house and techno, and ‘Deja’ was released in both extended and instrumental versions. The artists describe the arrangement as deliberately economical: each element has a defined role, leaving enough space for the groove while retaining the structural flexibility required by DJs.
For ANAYA, the release therefore sits within a broader transition rather than functioning as an isolated single. Her 2026 schedule has moved between stadium-scale sporting events and electronic music festivals, while her productions increasingly explore how her instrumental and vocal background can operate within contemporary club structures.
That next phase will continue with ‘Rabbit Hole’, ANAYA’s forthcoming release, extending a run of new material planned for the months ahead. Following ‘Deja’, the focus remains on translating the energy of her live schedule into recorded music while developing the production side of a project already built around DJing, vocals and violin.
‘Deja’ by Brian Matrix and Esther Anaya is out now via S2 Records/Sirup Music. The single is available on digital platforms and ANAYA can be found in Instagram @estheranaya and through her official channels for forthcoming music, including ‘Rabbit Hole’, and updates on her next live appearances.
