Brazilian producer and visual creator Luis Fernando, better known as ^L_, presents ‘Faith Is a Subscription’, a four track album released on 9 January 2026 through Germany’s EXIT7 RECORDS. Across roughly 30 minutes, the record develops a dark, physical language where industrial techno, IDM, acid, EBM, cyberpunk textures and fractured rhythmic structures meet.
Rather than relying on conventional peak time formulas, ‘Faith Is a Subscription’ builds its impact through accumulation, repetition and gradual shifts in texture and dynamics. The result is music that can feel both hypnotic and disorienting: club oriented in its pulse, but deliberately resistant to easy resolution.
The album’s conceptual center is a critique of conformity as routine. Its title suggests a world in which belief, identity and participation can become recurring transactions, a condition reflected in ^L_’s characteristically cold, mechanical and psychologically charged sound design.
^L_ has developed a body of work that sits deliberately between categories. Mixmag Brasil selected Luis Fernando aka ^L_ among its Top 25 Artists to Watch in 2025: Brazil Edition, describing a sound that draws on Aphex Twin and Autechre alongside industrial beats, cyberpunk, acid techno, coldwave, darkwave and EBM. The same profile highlights the project’s recurring themes of loneliness and nihilism, as well as its use of gritty breakbeats, horror film samples and electric, laser like textures.
The project’s international discography includes releases associated with labels in Berlin, London, Tokyo, Italy, the United States and Germany.
