Italian DJ and producer Mirko Di Florio returns to Montreal-based label Griffintown Records with a powerful new EP, You Make Me — a slick two-tracker that blends infectious tech house grooves with his signature punch and flair. With previous releases on labels like Ultra Music, Kaluki, SOLOTOKO, and Smiley Tiger, and continued support from tastemakers like Michael Bibi and Jamie Jones, Mirko’s name is one that continues to resonate across the underground scene. We caught up with him to dive into the story behind the new EP, his studio mindset, and what’s next in store, including upcoming tours, creative shifts, and how his early piano roots still shape the music he makes today.
1. Hi Mirko, congrats on the new EP! Can you tell us a bit about the inspiration behind “You Make Me” and how the track came together?

Thanks so much! I was in the studio digging through vocal samples when I came across the phrase “You Make Me”,  it instantly caught my ear. The idea came to me right away, and within a couple of hours, I had the main structure of the track down.
2. The EP comes with two versions of “Salt N Soda”,  the Dark Mix and the Tech Mix. What made you want to explore two directions with the same track?
I wanted to create something that could appeal to both tech house DJs and those playing more minimal sets. I felt the original idea had strong potential, so exploring two different versions made sense creatively.3. There’s a real balance between groove and emotion in this release — how do you approach that contrast in the studio?
These tracks are all about transmitting energy and power, and that’s exactly what I felt while making them. I remember literally dancing and jumping around the studio as they came together!

4. What drew you back to Griffintown Records for this release? What do you love about working with the label?
Kirk is such a great guy and runs the label really well. They’ve released tracks by amazing artists like Darius Syrossian, so I feel it’s a strong platform that adds real value to my career.

5. You started playing piano at the age of 4, how has that shaped your sound today, especially when it comes to building melodies and chord progressions?
In tech house, you don’t always use a lot of chord progressions, but having a piano background helps me when I’m creating sample packs or looking for melodies, it comes quite naturally. That said, sometimes my mind overthinks it and I start doubting my ideas. When that happens, I just take a break and come back with fresh ears.

6. How has the club scene changed for you over the last decade — both in Italy and internationally?
When I was in Ibiza, I played for Do Not Sleep, and my sound at the time was more house-focused. Over time, I’ve evolved.. I’m quite eclectic, and I really connected with tech house, which opened up a lot of new opportunities. I became a resident at Too Long in Milan, played festivals in the UK, collaborated with Buongiorno Classic (a great Italian club), and also performed at the legendary Bolgia.

7. What’s next for you after the “You Make Me” EP — any upcoming releases or tour plans we should look out for?
Right now, we’re trying to clear a sample from “La Mezcla”, Michael Bibi has been playing it everywhere, from DC10 to One Life events around the world.
As for touring, I’ve got a few exciting shows coming up, gigs at Too Long, Bolgia, and Lalaland in Southern Italy, as well as a show at Ministry of Sound. Then in September, I’ll head to South America for a tour right after a 15-day holiday in the Philippines. Not bad, right?
